How Can Goa fight its Air Pollution?

US base study has found out that Goans are losing 1.5 years of their life expectancy due to poor air quality in the state. According to WHO standard air quality is 10 micrograms per cubic metre (µg/m3) for fine particulate matter (PM2.5). The study also showed that there has been 9.3 per cent increase in particulate pollution in the state from 1998 to 2016 and by 2016 average life expectancy had increased to 1.6 years.  The main causes leading to such harsh environmental crisis are air pollutants emanate from construction and demolition actives, secondly vehicle emission and burning of waste in open.
It is not a new and unique problem, many countries like UK, US and China in past has faced it. It is a high time for India, and we should learn a lesson from these countries and should start working towards a solution which will be economical, and demographical ideal for the current state.
Here are some ways by which we can reduce Air pollution in Goa.
Ø  Use public transport and Carpooling; this will also avoid long traffic jams.
Ø  Avoid firework at any occasion
Ø   Plant more trees in your surroundings
Ø  Govt. should start planting trees like Ashoka on either side of the roads, as this tree grows straight and does occupy much space and will also help in tacking noise pollution.
Ø  Institutions like school, colleges and other industrial firms should switch to solar energy.
